There is a new promise this year, called the ‘September Guarantee’, that all young people in Gloucestershire should be made on offer of a place in learning by the end of the September after they finish Year 11.
The offer
The Guarantee is of an offer, by the end of September, of a place in learning. The starting date might, in some cases, be after the end of September. It shouldn’t be later than the beginning of the January 2008 term.
The offer will usually be for a place in full time education, on an apprenticeship, or on E2E. Offers must be at the right level, in a place that young people can get to, in an area of work that is right for them and it must suit their own way of learning.
If any young person does not have an offer of a place, what should they do?
Young people who find themselves without an offer need to contact their nearest Connexions First Stop Shop straight away, and ask to see a Personal Adviser. They can then talk about choices and make plans, so that they can have their guaranteed offer of a place in learning.
Contact details for Connexions are given on this site, and Connexions Gloucestershire can also be reached through the Connexions Infoline on 01452 426900
